According to Lil Peep: Everybody’s Everything documentary, his tour bus crew was completely replaced days before the tour. On Lil Peep’s last tour, for his album Come Over When You’re Sober Pt.1, Lil Peep toured the U.S for two months before his last planned show in Arizona. In this interview, Peep mentioned his musical inspiration as David Bowie and stated, “I’d love to be the new Kurt Cobain.”

Also according to a NME interview, Peep’s music is often described as ‘emo rap or punk pop’. Peep tackles many difficult topics in his music like depression, anxiety, addiction, suicide, and heartbreak that I feel a lot of teenagers today can relate to. According to a documentary about his life, Lil Peep: Everybody’s Everything, where Sarah Stenatt, the CEO of FAE, recalls a conversation she had with Peep,“I said ‘How big do you want to be? How far do you want to go?’ I said, ‘Do you want to play stadiums?’” and he said, ''Yeah, I want to play stadiums.” In this documentary, friends of Peep recounted multiple different times where Peep seemed to be too giving, always offering his home, his money, and his drugs to almost anybody without any regard for himself. While Peep was still alive, he had big dreams for his music career. His last tour - about a year afterwards, Lil Peep was found dead in his tour bus before his headlining show that took place, once again, in Tucson, Arizona. About a year later, after making multiple more music projects, Peep was rising quickly to the top and had his first live performance in Tucson, Arizona in March 2016. It wasn’t until he met a few other rappers and formed a group named Schemaposse that he made his first mixtape on Soundcloud, 2015’s Lil Peep Part One. His rise to success wasn't immediate, going in and out of homelessness. Shortly after, he moved to Los Angeles with the nickname his mom gave him as a child, Lil Peep. According to Lil Peep’s website, managed by his mother, Liza Womack, Peep graduated in January, 2014 - six months early. At age 17, Peep hated school and was ready to drop out, but one of his well-loved teachers pushed him to stay in school. His parents, who split when he was a teen, are both Harvard graduates that pursued teaching.

Lil Peep, born Gustav Ahr in Pennsylvania, grew up in Long Island, New York. On November 15th, 2017 - days after his 21st birthday - Peep died from an overdose of xanax and fentanyl on a tour bus near Tucson, Arizona. Lil Peep, whose real name is Gustav Ahr, became well known on Soundcloud as a teenager and signed a multi-year contract with First Access Entertainment (FAE) in 2016.
